Competition and regulatory
Our Brussels-based team of competition and regulatory lawyers is part of our global competition and regulatory group which is also based in London, Paris and Amsterdam. The team advises companies and governments on all aspects of national and EU competition and regulatory law, as well as general EU law including WTO and trade issues.
On EU competition, we regularly advise on:
- Merger control.
- Market investigations and compliance.
- Anti-competitive agreements and concerted practices.
- Abuse of dominant position and state aids for companies needing clearance, complainants and those accused of infringement of EU/EEA competition rules.
We also have extensive experience of national competition laws in the EU and regularly manage and coordinate multiple filings worldwide. Industries in which we have particular experience include aviation, telecoms, energy, water, shipping and rail.
Our expertise is not limited to competition/antitrust laws in the narrow sense. In Europe, the privatisation and liberalisation of state monopolies and public utilities has led to the creation of special regimes and codes amplifying and modifying general competition laws in aviation, telecoms, energy, postal services, water, shipping and rail. We regularly provide advice on industry specific regulations not only to companies but also to governments and governmental bodies.
We are able to advise clients in all main EU countries, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Poland and the UK, as well as the European Commission itself. Our working languages are English, Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
