Aslam's Profile

Aslam Moosajee joined Deneys Reitz in January 1996. He has been involved in a number of high profile cases, including the case involving the President of South Africa and the former National Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Pikoli.  He currently practises as a Director in the Corporate and Commercial Litigation Department of Deneys Reitz. He specialises in banking and commercial and corporate litigation work and he regularly acts for two of the big four major banks, a number of the large auditing practices, the largest airline in South Africa and the largest university in Johannesburg.

He has been involved in a number of reported cases, including a precedent setting case in relation to the interpretation of Section 261(2) of the Companies Act. A number of articles by him have been published in the press and in legal journals. He has been named as a leading lawyer in the field of dispute resolution by Chambers 'The World's Leading Lawyers for Business' and has also been included in Financial Mail's Little Black Book, which recognises achievements by black persons in South Africa. Aslam has taken a keen interest in the transformation of the legal profession and has been regularly quoted in the press on issues of transformation in the legal profession.

Aslam obtained a B.Com from the University of Durban Westville, an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Diploma in Insolvency Law from the University of Johannesburg and a certificate in Competition Law from the University of the Witwatersrand. Aslam also successfully completed the mediation course offered by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution.

Aslam is a member of the Law Societies of the Northern, KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Provinces and a member of the Management Committee and Supervisory Board at Deneys Reitz. He is an accredited CEDR mediator and a member of Tokiso's Commercial Mediation panel.
