Stephanie's Profile

Stephanie Vermaak is a Director in the Employment and Labour Law Department. She joined the firm in January 2000 and became a director in 2005. She obtained a degree in nursing from the Rand Afrikaans University in 1996 followed by an LLB in 1999. During her law studies she worked as a judge’s registrar in the Johannesburg High Court.

Stephanie has considerable experience in the review of arbitration awards, and is considered to be a specialist in this field. She has an active litigation practise and represents clients on a regular basis in the CCMA, the various Bargaining Councils, the Labour Court as well as the Labour Appeal Court. She provides her clients with corporate and strategic advice on a wide range of issues.

She is a contributor to the EU report, an international publication which provides invaluable information on South African Labour Law to international clients. She has been interviewed on radio on a range of labour related issues. She also provides legal advice on a pro-bono basis for Business Against Crime. She was part of the team who worked on the Barclay/ABSA deal. She regularly presents training courses on a variety of issues.
